How does billing work, and can I cancel?

There is no trial. Your card is charged when you subscribe, and every month after that. Cancelling is a button in Settings that opens Stripe's own billing portal; it is never an email to us. There is no free tier: the live demo is how you see the whole product without an account or a card.

What does CardChase actually do?

It works your failed subscription charges. Overnight it retries the ones worth retrying, on a schedule you set, and drafts a note to the customer in your voice. In the morning you get a queue: approve it, edit the wording, or kill it. Nothing touches a card or a customer until you say so.

Isn't this what Stripe Smart Retries already does?

Stripe retries the card. It does not write your customer, it does not hand you a queue, and it does not let you read the message before it goes. CardChase runs on top of your Stripe Billing account and adds the half that involves a human — the message, the approval, and the receipt.

Will it retry a card that has been reported stolen?

Accepted Answer

No, and that is not a setting. When the network returns a permanent decline — a hard decline code, the issuer's own do_not_try_again advice, or a response code the network classifies as “issuer will never approve” — the charge stops for good. Retrying one of those is a card-network rules violation that gets a Stripe account flagged.

How many times will it retry one customer?

4 times, per failed charge, and the cap cannot be configured above 14. The card networks allow at most 15 reattempts in 30 days, so the ceiling is enforced in code rather than left to whoever fills in the settings page.

Can I take back a retry after I approve it?

Accepted Answer

Yes, for 30 seconds. Approving does not send — it starts the window, and the dispatcher cannot claim the retry or the note until the window elapses. After that the authorization is at the issuer and nobody can recall it, which is exactly why the window exists.

Does the customer know it came from software?

The note goes out from your address, in your voice, with your sign-off — and you read it before it leaves. There is no CardChase branding on anything a customer receives.

What does the agent actually write?

A short note about the specific charge that failed — the amount, the card it was on, and what happens next. It is built from your voice profile and the tone of the rung it is on, so the first note is a heads up and the last one is a last call.

Can I edit the message before it goes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The queue shows you the subject and the full body, not a summary, and you can rewrite any of it. Approving what you see is the whole point — a queue that shows a paraphrase is asking you to approve something you have not read.

Does it invent numbers?

No. Every figure in a note comes from the charge itself — the amount Stripe reported, the card brand and last four, the decline code. Nothing is generated that was not read off the failed charge.

How does it decide the order of the queue?

By what churn would cost per month, not by the size of the charge that bounced. A $49 charge on a $2,000-a-month account is the more urgent row, and a queue sorted by charge amount buries it.

When does it stop on its own?

On a hard decline, on the issuer's do_not_try_again advice, on a network response code that means the issuer will never approve, at the retry cap, or when a customer has opted out. Each of those writes a receipt saying which one fired and what the authority for it was.

Can I let it run without approving each one?

Autopilot exists and it has to be earned: 10 approvals with no edit unlock it. Even then it holds anything above the threshold you set, and it does not weaken the hard-decline stop — that applies in both modes.

What does CardChase connect to?

Stripe Billing, as an API key on your own account or through a Stripe Connect grant. That is the system of record — failed charges are read from it and retries are run on it.

Where do the notes send from?

Accepted Answer

Your own domain through Resend, or your own mailbox through Microsoft 365. Your customer sees your address, and replies land in your inbox.

Do you store card numbers?

No. CardChase never sees a card number. It reads the brand, the last four digits and the decline code from Stripe, and retries are executed by Stripe against the payment method already on file.

What happens if I disconnect Stripe?

Tokens are revoked immediately, the overnight pass stops finding charges, and nothing is retried. Your history and receipts stay in your account until you delete them.

Could this get my Stripe account flagged?

That risk is the reason the hard-decline stop exists. Retrying a card the network has permanently refused is a rules violation, so CardChase refuses to do it — and it caps retries per customer well inside the ceiling the networks set.

Who can see my billing data?

Accepted Answer

Your workspace is yours. CardChase asks only for the Stripe scopes it needs to read failed invoices and pay them, and every connection can be revoked with one click.
